The only year-round lift operation in the country — summer laps on the Palmer snowfield above the historic WPA-built lodge on Hood's flank. Winter terrain is mellow; the magic is the setting and the calendar.
The lodge itself — famous as an exterior in The Shining — is worth a night. It pairs with Meadows for a Hood trip: Timberline for atmosphere and spring turns, Meadows for terrain.
