Powder Compass
Terms of Service
Plain-language draft, not yet reviewed by a lawyer. It will be finalized before launch. Questions: [email protected].
By using Powder Compass, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
What Powder Compass is — and isn’t
Powder Compass reports the historical odds of good snow: what the last several winters actually did for a given resort, week, and budget. That is the whole product, and it comes with one honest limit you should read carefully:
Our odds are historical probabilities, not forecasts, predictions, or guarantees. Weather is uncertain. We tell you the odds and we name the busts — the years a bet missed — precisely because no one can promise conditions. A “strong bet” is a statement about the past, not a promise about your trip. Do not book a trip on the assumption that our odds guarantee snow. Inside about ten days, where we show an actual weather forecast, we say so; everything else is climatology.
No warranty
The service is provided “as is.” We work hard to make our data accurate and our tools useful, but we don’t warrant that the site will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any number on it will match what happens on the mountain.
Bookings and third parties
Powder Compass doesn’t sell lodging, lift tickets, or travel. When you follow a booking link, you’re transacting with a third-party provider under their terms and prices, and we are not a party to that transaction. Prices and availability we display may be out of date — confirm everything with the provider before you pay. Some of those links are affiliate links; see our Affiliate Disclosure.
Acceptable use
- Don’t scrape, bulk-download, or resell our data without permission.
- Don’t misuse the service, interfere with it, or try to break its security.
- If you submit a trip report or other content, keep it truthful and yours to share; don’t post anything unlawful or abusive.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Powder Compass is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or from any trip you book — including a trip where the snow didn’t show. Your decisions about travel and money are your own.
Changes & governing law
We may update these terms and will post the new effective date above. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
