Odds count natural snowfall only. At snowmaking-dependent resorts, early-season cover can be fine in a low-natural-snow year.

Field notes
The steepest sustained lift-served terrain in Utah — the Cirque, Mineral Basin, and the tram's top-to-bottom laps define big-mountain riding in the Cottonwoods. Deep, dry snow on relentless pitch; it's the benchmark.
Little Cottonwood Canyon closes in big storms, and the interlodge lockdowns are real — being stuck up-canyon is either heaven or a trap, depending on your flexibility. Stay at the base if chasing storms, in the valley if keeping options open. Weekend powder-day traffic is a bloodsport; go midweek.

These are historical odds from the last 20 winters — not a forecast. Inside 16 days of a trip, a forecast is the better instrument; beyond that, counting real seasons is the honest play. Every number on this page is quoted under methodology v1.2.0, the same math we grade ourselves against in public.
