Odds count natural snowfall only. At snowmaking-dependent resorts, early-season cover can be fine in a low-natural-snow year.

Field notes

A small, storm-favored gem on Monarch Pass — all-natural snow that stacks up reliably, friendly gladed steeps, and Mirkwood Basin's hike-to terrain that skis far bigger than the trail map admits. Zero pretense.

A Power Pass partner mountain. Salida, half an hour down, is one of Colorado's best small towns and the lodging play. The pass road closes in big storms — time arrivals accordingly. Midweek crowds are functionally nonexistent.

These are historical odds from the last 20 winters — not a forecast. Inside 16 days of a trip, a forecast is the better instrument; beyond that, counting real seasons is the honest play. Every number on this page is quoted under methodology v1.2.0, the same math we grade ourselves against in public.
