Odds count natural snowfall only. At snowmaking-dependent resorts, early-season cover can be fine in a low-natural-snow year.

Field notes

A high volcano that skis into summer — big alpine terrain off the top (Climax and the gullies), endless park culture mid-mountain, and enough acreage to handle its Los Angeles crowds better than expected. The Eastern Sierra's flagship.

Flights into Mammoth-Yosemite are weather-fragile; most visitors drive. Ikon anchor. Spring skiing into June and beyond is the unique asset — a late-May trip when everything else is closed. The Village is functional, and the canyon-lodge zones run cheaper.

These are historical odds from the last 20 winters — not a forecast. Inside 16 days of a trip, a forecast is the better instrument; beyond that, counting real seasons is the honest play. Every number on this page is quoted under methodology v1.2.0, the same math we grade ourselves against in public.
